So that was Christmas…

ALL good things must come to an end.

Despite the best intentions of Wizzard, it isn’t Christmas every day, however much we all wish it was.

And come January it’s back to reality with a bump. Work beckons, the kids are back at school, the days are getting longer.

So let Pines and Needles ease those post-Yuletide blues by letting us take care of your tree’s disposal.

Pines and Needles offer three services.

The BUDGET collection costs £29.95 and enables us to remove your undecorated tree from outside your property. You will receive a text message confirmation with your driver’s details on the day of collection.

For £5 more you can enjoy the STANDARD collection where you choose the date and time for collection. We will collect your tree, collect your mess and recycle it – just make you’ve removed everything from it first.

Finally, for £64.95 we offer our PREMIUM collection where, once again, you choose your preferred date and time.

A text message confirmation with your driver’s details will be sent on the day.

We take all of the decorations off the tree, wrap them in tissue and boxes, undress the lights and stow them away, clean up all the fallen needles and remove the tree for recycling.

See, it’s that easy.

And, just think, it a few months time it’ll be Christmas all over again…

Making sure your tree survives Christmas!

JOHN Terry has done it, Holly Willoughby has done it twice, Britney Spears did it again, obviously, and Kelly Osbourne even climbed a ladder to do it.
Don’t be left behind with dressing your Christmas Tree. Now is the time to get festive and imaginative.
But it’s not just about baubles, lights and tinsel…how do you ensure your tree survives Christmas without withering away to a sad, barren collection of branches?
Especially when the biggest trend of 2016 has been to get the tree up even earlier in some of the most wintry conditions we have had in years.
Yes the heating is on full blast all day as frosty scenes charm outside – tough conditions for your tree out of its cool outdoor environment.
Preservation of the Pine is everything this year but we have all the tips you need to keep your fir looking fabulous all the way through the festivities.
But do take more care than usual and follow our advice.
Here’s our guide to ensuring your tree is still looking the business come the 12th Day of Christmas.
TRIM THE TRUNK: Just before you plant your tree, saw off 3cm from the bottom. This enables the tree to ‘drink’ water through its pores.
TEMPER YOUR TEMPERATURE: Trees don’t like drastic changes in temperature.
STEP AWAY FROM THE FIRE: Trees don’t do heat. So don’t place your finest fir right next to a radiator or open fire. Keep it fresh.
KEEP IT WATERED: Place your tree in plain water – not soil, not sand. Opt for a proper Christmas Tree stand.
GET THE PINTS IN: Your tree drinks. A lot. Two to three pints per day should do the trick. And keep topping it up if the levels drop.

Oh my goodness, Christmas is well and truly on it’s way!

Everything from a grease-stained Christmas pudding recipe from your grandma’s cupboard, an old stocking handed down through the family and that sad looking angel you’ve had since you were five screams Christmas tradition, and it’s these things that make Christmas so incredibly special.

The excitement can officially start now there’s just 25 sleeps to go!

screen-shot-2016-11-30-at-08-26-02Obviously, we’re full of festive spirit 365 days a year, but if you need some encouragement to get in the spirit of things, it’s worth remembering all those precious moments that make your Christmas fabulous. It’s the times that are stained on your memory, that you will pass down to future generations that make Christmas all the more exciting.

Food for Thought

We know Christmas. From the perfect tree right to the perfect decorations, we live and breathe the festive season all year round. One of our favourite parts of the holiday (excluding the trees of course!) is the array of themed food that makes it’s way onto our shelves. Those favourite ‘red-cups’ sneak into the stores, and the flavours start to adapt a Christmas blend.

Ad it’s not just coffee. From burgers to ice cream, festivities show themselves everywhere, and we’re counting down our favourites!

Nando’s have added cranberry to their standard chicken burger as a festive treat! Even KFC have entered the realms of festive food and created a limited edition burger. If you live in London, there’s a sea of burger restaurants dipping their toes in the trend!

The long awaited Gingerbread latte is back in business at Starbucks! Alongside a toffee nut latte and some incredible sounding hot chocolates, and all served in a festive red cup to get you in the mood.

Costa have bought a little bit of Christmas Jumper magic to their cups this year. Filled with flavours such as Salted Caramel Cappuccino and even a Lindt hot chocolate, they’re sure to get your feeling festive.

M&S have upped their game this year, from bucks fizz flavoured chips, to wreath shaped blocks of cheese and three bird sausage rolls they’ve gone all out this year! This isn’t just a Christmas…

Afternoon Tea

Our friends over the The Resident (LINK) have put together a fab list of London’s top Christmas themed afternoon teas, ranging from The Ritz to The Lanesborough!

Looking for something a little bit unique? Not On The High Street have the best selection of Christmas food, ranging from alcoholic mulled wine humbugs to a Christmas dinner in a match box, it’s perfect for this time of year!

Crackers for Christmas

No Christmas table is complete without the addition of some legendary crackers, and it was the one and only Tom Smith who bought them to us back in 1847.

Taking a bit of inspiration from the Bon Bon, and a lot of inspiration from Paris, crackers started out with a twisted end, filled with a love note and a sugared almond. Smith then developed these into the toy-filled crackers we know and love today!

There’s nothing like the bang of a cracker to start a party, and Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without having to clean up paper hats for days.

At Pines and Needles we value the history of products, as well as the quality. This is why Tom Smith is our main crackers supplier. We don’t just love his crackers, we love his story too!

You know the drill…
